Job Description

Lulu Press is currently looking for a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support Lulu Press's production environments.  Our infrastructure has grown over the years to a very mature and stable platform. As it became increasingly difficult to enhance and evolve the existing platform, we started developing a new software platform two years ago based on microservice architecture. Now, the founding blocks have been laid and we can start transitioning to the new platform. Technical innovations, cloud-based services and new devops practices like CI/CD are opportunities for us to take our infrastructure to the next level.

 

You will work in our IT Ops team with a Sr. Systems Architect to ensure the data integrity, security, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Lulu infrastructure.  This includes the physical servers, virtual servers, networks, and storage environment. Over time, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects together with our development teams to build new external and internal facing services for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily monitoring, systems management and implementation of multiple Linux/Windows development, test, DR and production environments. 
  • Perform backup, monitoring, security, installation, upgrading, patching, and continuous disaster recovery operations.
  • Create and/or update documentation of all supported environments.
  • Assist in working with vendors to find innovative solutions within budget constraints.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems in our environment.
  • Identify and execute tasks for quarterly scheduled down-time maintenance windows.
  • Act as a liaison between IT and Dev to help ensure project goals and timelines are clear and attainable.  
  • Provide help and expertise in the management of Lulu’s VMware virtual environment.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Linux servers in Physical and virtualized environment 
  • 7+ years of Red Hat Linux production environment experience
  • Proven experience managing VMware solutions (eg. ESXi, vCenter)
  • Network Administration experience (eg. Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
  • Experience with load balancing (BIG-IP), LDAP, SSL/TLS, HTTP, DNS, DHCP and TCIP/IP
  • Experience with Storage and protocols (eg. Netapp, EMC, iSCSI, FC, NFS, CIFS)
  • Experience working on Physical Blades (UCS and IBM Bladecenters)
  • Ability to build services on production servers and create service checks
  • Experience scripting languages (BASH/Perl/Python)
  • Experience with infrastructure automation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervisory direction.
  • Always eager to learn and improve at your profession
  • Comfortable working in Data Center (Physical racking and cabling)

 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Docker or other container engines
  • Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift
  • Experience with Cloud Computing
  • Experience with Splunk, Nagios, Jira, Confluence

 

Preferences:

  • B.S. in Computer Information Systems, computer Science, or related field.
  • Understanding best practices around information security and data privacy
